Lost in Thought
Lost in Thought
Mental health is more openly discussed today than ever before, yet there still often lingers a silence. A silence that feels uneasy. A silence that can be heavy. With my final project, Lost in Thought, I want to bring exactly that silence into the open: the struggle that unfolds quietly within the mind and heart.
Each photo in this project captures a moment, a feeling, a thought that you might experience when wrestling with yourself. Sometimes the image is confronting and direct, other times more subtle—just like mental pain itself: sometimes visible, but often invisible to the outside world.
The simplicity of the white sheets, the emptiness of the rooms, the play of light and shadow... they all amplify the sense of vulnerability, isolation, and hope. Each image is paired with a single-word title, carefully chosen to capture the pure essence of that moment. Behind every word lies a story, an emotion, an inner battle that many can relate to.
This theme is deeply personal to me. I have struggled with mental health issues myself—often for a long time and without fully understanding their source. My work doesn’t aim to provide answers but rather to show how multifaceted and complex inner struggles can be.
I deliberately ended both series with an image connected to a positive word. Because even in the darkest times, there is room for hope. The road to healing is rarely straight or fast, but it is possible. And just as I have found myself again, piece by piece, I want this work to remind others of that quiet yet powerful truth: it will get better. At your own pace.
